Care & Materials Guide

Materials

AMALIA. Jewellery carries pieces available in 925 Sterling Silver and Stainless steel, which is either 18K & 14k PVD Gold-Plated. Material details along with dimensions of each piece can be found in the individual description online.

Gold-Plated PVD Jewellery

Is a vacuum coating process that utilises a titanium nitride that produces a brilliant decorative and functional finish. PVD is an extremely durable coating which is more resistant to corrosion from sweat and regular wear than gold plating.

Gold Plating occurs when a thin layer of real gold is plated onto another metal. Gold plating is often done to give the look of real gold at a fraction of the cost of having a piece of jewellery that is solid gold. Gold plating doesn’t offer the durability of gold PVD coating and when scratched can reveal the base material. We use the highest quality PVD process so that you get the aesthetic and durability.

Stainless Steel

Stainless Steel is the base metal used, it offers enhanced durability and a longer lifespan if taken care of.

(925) Sterling Silver

Sterling Silver is a base metal used, 925 represents 92.5% minimum pure silver. 7.5% is made up of alloy or copper depending on the piece.

Jewellery Care

AMALIA. Jewellery is made from precious metal, and needs to be cared for to maintain its beauty.

  • Avoid direct contact with perfume, lotion, fake tan & hairspray.
  • Be sure to remove when sleeping, swimming, exercising or near chlorine.
  • After use, clean jewellery gently with a soft dry cloth, to remove any moisture and maintain shine.
  • Store jewellery safely in the AMALIA. Jewellery box provided or in a dry place.

Overtime jewellery can discolour due to exposure to moisture, environment, and chemicals. Even if we take care of our jewellery, gold plating can rub off naturally due to wear and tear.
